Mr. Vernon Samuel Davis, Jr. of 309 West First Avenue, Cordele, Georgia died Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, October 14, 2018 at 2:00 P. M. in the sanctuary of the Greater Morris Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Macedonia Church Cemetery, Drayton Community, Vienna, Georgia.

Vernon Samuel Davis, Jr. was born July 20, 1961 in Dooly County, Georgia. He was born to Mrs. Eroyce Hughes Davis and the late Mr. V. S. “Duke” Davis, Sr.


Vernon was educated in the public schools of Dooly County and Crisp County. He was a graduate of Crisp County High School. Upon the completion of high school he enlisted in the United States Army.


On Saturday, October 6, 2018, Vernon peacefully slipped away. He transitioned while a patient at the Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele, Georgia.   Along with his father, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Emil R. Davis.


He leaves cherished memories to his loving and devoted mother, Mrs. Eroyce Hughes Davis of Cordele, Georgia; his beloved children, Mrs. Lachandra (Ray) Crane of Warner     Robins, Georgia, Mr. Vernon Davis, III (Latakia Manning) of Norcross, Georgia, Mr. Chadviyaus Davis of Cordele, Georgia, Ms. Kareemah Ming of Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Vernon Davis Robinson of Delaware, and Ms. Candace Davis (Kentavious Smith) of Cordele, Georgia; his beloved siblings, Ms. Stephanie Reid of Kathleen, Georgia, Mr. Victor Davis (Mary Coley) of Rochelle, Georgia, Mr. Valton (Alice) Davis of Cordele, Georgia, Mr. Vinson (Latrice) Davis of Tibado, Louisiana, Mr. Verrick Davis (Candace Butler) of Cordele, Georgia, and Mr. Tony (Christy) Martin of Albany, Georgia; 16 grandchildren; his beloved aunts and uncles, Mrs. Marie Harris of Rochester, New York, Mrs. Ida Ruth Bryant, Mr. Eddie (Jessie) Walker, and Mr. Lawrence Stokes all of Cordele, Georgia; his god daughter, Ms. Chelsy Lundy of Vienna, Georgia, his god sisters, Ms. Khaledah Wellons, Ms. Khalia McDonald, Mrs. Brenda (Charles) Glover, Ms. LaFonda Adams; a special friend, Ms. Diane Hudd; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends, to include his devoted friends, Deacon Ray Rollins and Mr. Charles Hamilton.
