Mrs. Lillie Ruth Dawson

Mrs. Lillie Ruth Stretchen Dawson of 1311 East 8th Avenue, Cordele, Georgia died Friday, November 20, 2020 at the Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele, Georgia.

The graveside funeral service to be attended by the immediate family ONLY will be held Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.  Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

Mrs. Lillie Ruth Stretchen Dawson was born October 24, 1936 in Smithville, Georgia.  She was born to the late Mr. David Stretchen, Sr. and the late Mrs. Lillie Mae Jenkins Stretchen.

She was educated in the public schools of Crisp County.  As she grew up and raised her family, she enjoyed fellowshipping with various churches of the Crisp County community.

Lillie enjoyed cooking and sewing.  Her greatest joy came in taking care of her children and grandchildren.  She was an excellent mother and grandmother.   She will be remembered as a soft spoken person who was strong in stature.

On Friday, November 20, 2020, she transitioned from this life while a patient at the Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele, Georgia.  Along with her parents, she is   preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Willie Dawson and her siblings, Mrs. Ruby Jones, Mr. David Stretchen, and Mr. Eddie Stretchen.

Her love will forever be cherished by her loving and  devoted children, Mrs. Lily B. Thomas of St. Petersburg, Florida, Mrs. Mary Brown of Bradenton, Florida, Mr.  Eddie Dawson of Cordele, Georgia, Mr. Willie Dawson and Mr. Curtis Dawson both of Atlanta, Georgia, Mrs. Almedia Quow and Mrs. Brenda (Jimmy) Johnson both of Cordele, Georgia, Mr. Ricky Dawson of Decatur, Alabama, Ms. Juanita Dawson and Ms. Melinda Dawson both of Cordele, Georgia, Mr. Darren Dawson of Atlanta, Georgia, and Ms. Cynthia Dawson of Jacksonville, Florida; her stepson, Mr. Walter Dawson of Cordele, Georgia; 84+ grandchildren; 70+ great grandchildren; her loving sisters, Ms. Donna M. Childs and Ms. Essie Mae Waites; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Mertice Dawson; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
