Ms. Mary Edith Biggens, the daughter of Ms. Essie Mae Moore was born on March 12, 1941, in Americus Georgia. She migrated in 1946 to Gulf Hammock, where she began her education at 1 of the 2 segregated churches in Levy County.
In 1952 she attended public schools in Tampa, Florida; Lomax Elementary, Booker T. Washington, and Middleton High School. She dedicated her life to supporting her family as a single mom. She began work at age 16 until 72, as a housekeeper. She also helped in the upbringing of the children in the William’s and Linick’s household.
Pleasant Chapel AME in Tampa, Florida, was the chosen place of worship and as a member Ms. Mary E. Biggens was on the Usher board and a Stewardess in the church since she was a teenager. Pastor Crews provided her a happy environment, gave good advice, and made her laugh.
Ms. Mary was blessed with 3 loving sons, who shared their mom. Ms. Mary was known to be the neighborhoods’ mom and counselor. Many gravitated toward her accepting heart, open mind, listening ear and honest advice. Early Sunday May 26, 2024, Ms. Mary E. Biggens was called to go home peacefully with our Lord and Savior.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children Curtis Reed and wife Cassandra, Johnny Biggens and wife Kelly, Reggie Butler; 5 grandchildren, Lakenya Reed, Lakenna Smith and husband Gary, Jasmin Cox, Curtis Reed Jr. (Mary), Chris Biggens and Mary Biggens; her prayer warriors, Tangela McDaniels, Johnny Mae Davis, Stella Keith; friends, Elsie Hires, Louise Williams, Annie Cason, Irene Johnson, Crystal

Ms. Mary was a sweet and loving person. I was an Usher under her watch at Church as a young child. Her and My Mom Annie shared a special friendship. To the Family, my sincerest condolences to you all.

I spoke to you a week before I received the news. You told me when you come back that we will catch up on everything! We had a special bond like no other. We connected very well because we had the same personality "loving, silly and we both didn't play". You would laugh every time I would say I'm ready to go home and I just clocked in for work or we would talk about someone and you would say "they have a problem". But I will truly miss you! I know you are watching your loved ones from above!...
