Nancy Kono

I am truly saddened to hear of Nancy's passing. She was a very loving, wise, generous and most of all authentic person.
Nancy was so proud of her children. I found Nancy to be a rare and gentle soul. Her memory will never leave those who knew her.

I am so sorry to hear of Nancy's passing, and so glad I got a chance to know her calm, cheerful presence. The last time I spoke with her she held on to hope with a cheerful tenacity that was amazing to hear. What a model for living. Rest in comfort dear friend.

Nancy and I met last year when I joined the gynecological cancer support group at Swedish. Nancy was so wise--also funny, smart, caring. She taught me a lot about dealing with cancer. She also talked about her grown children and how much she loved them. Nancy, you had great class. I'm glad I got to know you. (Though Nancy would probably laugh right now and say, "Oh, Jane, if only it could have been under different circumstances.") Rest in peace, my friend.

Nancy brought joy everywhere all the time. She beamed her beautiful smile endlessly and always shared her quiet wisdom. I felt honored to know her and help care for her children.

Nancy was my teacher, my mentor, my colleague, my friend. What beautiful peace she brought to parents of infants. Her voice soothed crying babies and encouraged frazzled parents. Her face lit up when she saw a friend and they always felt loved. Anyone who knew Nancy was blessed. Now, peace to you Nancy.

Nancy and I were in the Master's program together at UPS. She was a bright light for me when I was going through chemotherapy for breast cancer in 1996. Peace and safe journey my friend.
