Nancye Oldson of La Grange passed away Friday, Jan. 7, 2022. She was born July 3, 1929 to the late W. Morris and Emma S. Head.
Nancye was a beautician for many years at Lucy's Beauty Shop. She worked as a library assistant at the new Oldham County Junior High from 1967 to 1978. Nancye was a talented seamstress, cross-stitcher and crafter. In 1946 the dress she made as a 4-H clothing project was the winner of the county and state dress revue, which won her a trip to the National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago, Ill. In later years she became quite the collector of novelty salt and pepper shakers. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to the Salt and Pepper Conventions throughout the United States. She loved her fur babies, going to Daytona Beach and riding on the back of the Harley Davidson motorcycle with her husband of 72 years, Jim.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James H. Oldson. She is survived by her children, James Steven Oldson (Sally) and Patricia Jo Spellman (Tom); grandchildren, Kellie Jo Spellman, Stephanie C. Farrish and Anthony Thomas Spellman; and a great granddaughter, Reily Grace Farrish.
Due to COVID 19, a private Celebration of Life will be conducted on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022, at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home with burial to follow in Valley of Rest Cemetery.
