Mr. Nollie Layfayette "Red" Launius Jr., age 76, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Saturday, June 7, 2003 in the Howard County Memorial Hospital, Nashville, AR.
He was born on October 4, 1926 in Holly Springs, Arkansas to Nollie Layfayette Sr. and Mattie Emily Jackson Launius. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for Weyerhaeuser, a U.S. Navy veteran, member of the AFL-CIO Union, and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Dierks.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Nolan Launius and Algie Launius and his stepmother: Mary Walker Launius.
Mr. Launius is survived by his wife: Bessie Kesterson Launius of Dierks; four sons: Thomas Launius of Nashville, Arkansas, Delton Launius of New Hope, Arkansas, Glen Launius of Lockesburg, Arkansas and Ronnie Launius of Dierks; one daughter: Emily Rosamond of West, Mississippi; one sister: Evalena Mizell of San Antonio, Texas; four brothers: Ferrel Launius of Bearden, Arkansas, Weldon Launius of Dazell, North Carolina, Lamar Launius of Phoenix, Arizona, and Carroll Launius of Memphis, Tennessee; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Launius will be held Monday, June 9, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. in the First Assembly of God in Dierks with Rev. Henry Bateman and Rev. Jack Isham officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 8, 2003, from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Chapel in Dierks.
