Remembering Oscar is easy to do. How can anyone forget Oscar?! His legacy of love and support with an open stance toward all can be seen and experienced daily. Oscar challenges you to love more. To take an active interest in people and challenges facing "the least of these." We will not forget Oscar because him impact is indelibly imprinted on our hearts.

Mr. Haynes was so sweet and kind to me as a young person at 12th Street CC. A great big chunk of my life's memories include Mr. Haynes and family. He is smiling in heaven...and boy what a smile!

The simplest word I can use to describe Oscar is AMAZING! Such a loving, gentle spirit. His quick mind, optimism and ever-ready wit were with him to the end. To know him was to know a man who truly knew and trusted in God's grace. My husband, kids and I will all miss him, but we're so glad we got to know him. Blessings to Joan and the rest of the family. Thanks for sharing him with us.

John and I got to know Oscar well in the UCP Sunday morning Bible study. What a gem! His attitude of gratitude is forever etched in our memories as well as his kind smile and quick laugh. We know he is one of God's special angels.

As I read these notes I found myself wanting to "like" so many because they echoed my thoughts. Oscar was unique and the world is better because he lived. My condolences to his family.
