Not sure what to say?

just discovered this message board but seven months have passed but memories of my grandfather will never fade.

There will never be a finer human being than Otto Woerner. He was kind, caring and showed his love for his fellowman in his actions and words. He left a huge impression on all who knew him. He will be sorely missed by many. Ervin and I loved him. He was such a role model. God be with all the family left behind.

Thoughts of my Grandfather

A few years back, I was reading a bedtime story to my son, and I suddenly recalled one of my earliest memories... The almost magical feeling of my grandfather's large hand rubbing my back as he told us a far-fetched bedtime story.

I've always known that he was an amazing person, but as I've gotten older I've come to realize just how lucky I've been to have him as a grandfather.

He helped build my world into the amazing place that it...

Peace, Uncle Otto. The memories you left me will live on forever. Love you.

There isn't enough space or enough words to express my feeling of loss when I learned of Otto's death. We came to Morganton in 1965 when Gene joined the Carolina Shoe Co. Wynne and Otto made the transition of moving so pleasant and easy and made us feel so welcome and like part of their family. Gene, our three children loved and respected him and surely will miss him. He WAS a good man but he was also one of the best. My prayers and sympathy goes to each famly member and to Betty for her...

Both of my parents worked for Otto at Carolina Shoe. My fondest childhood memories included Otto, as he would bring us breakfast, books, and toys to occupy our time when the plant was running overtime and weekends. He cared for us as an extended family. As a young woman, he was instrumental in my career at Grace Ridge, and I had the privilege of serving beside him in the community. He was a kind, soft-spoken angel and while his legacy lives on, the man will be missed. My thoughts and prayers...

I was also a member of the Carolina Shoe family and enjoyed watching this energetic man everyday he was a wonderful person and a great man I know that you will be truly missed by your family as well as your Carolina Shoe family RIP......

I was a member of Otto's Carolina Shoe family. He was always a kind, caring, fair man to work for and to know. I count myself lucky to have known such a fine man. He was a hugh asset to Burke County and will be missed by many.

Was blessed to know him and call him my great-grand father.
