Patrick J. Padula Sr. died Tuesday evening at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart surrounded by loved ones.

He and his wife, "Babe," the former Mary Louise Toth, had recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary.

Born in Dunmore, son of the late Frank and Dorothy Reidmiller Padula, Patrick was educated in Dunmore schools and worked as superintendent for the Lackawanna County Road and Bridges Department. Patrick was a member of St. Rocco's Church and their Holy Name Society. He also served as president of the Eternal Friendship Club for many years.

Patrick is also survived by his two sons, Joseph and wife, Anne, Jessup; and Patrick Jr. and wife, Paula, Jefferson Twp.; a daughter, Michelle Bistran and husband, David, Dunmore; grandchildren, Natalie Padula, Anita Price and husband, Michael; Richard Fox and wife, Yurani; Kimberly Maconeghy and husband, James; Krystal Allman and husband, David; Danielle and Nicholas Bistran; great-grandchildren, Marisa, Brooke, Jameson, Aubrey; sister, Ann Trionfo, Dunmore; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ronald and Carol Toth; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also precededin death by four brothers and a sister.

"Papa," as he was known to all his friends and family, loved to brag about his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's accomplishments; they were his number one priority. He was a hard worker all his life, doing for everyone, never expecting anything in return. He loved Penn State football and hunting with his sons, daughter-in-law and grandsons. Papa especially loved the St. Rocco's Feast and hosted his own Italian Festival with his wife for all to enjoy for many years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 100 Williams St., Dunmore, PA 18510.

The funeral will be Saturday with Mass of Christian Burial At 9:30 a.m. in St. Rocco's Church, 118 Kurtz St., Dunmore. Entombment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park.

Friends and family are invited to call on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Morell-LaBelle Funeral Home, 301 Chestnut St., Dunmore.

Michelle and the entire Padula family, I am so very sorry for your loss. I became friends with Michelle years ago and her parents were everything to her. I've learned that her loving parents are what made her the person she is today....her dad will always remain her hero.
