Paul Jason Derr
Paul Jason "PJ" Derr, husband, father, son, and brother, 40, of Tamaqua passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015 from injuries sustained while working on his car at home on Clay Street.
He is survived by his wife, whom he shared the last 20 years with, Angela M. (Klein) Derr; his children, whom he adored, daughter, Cassidy Rose Derr; son, Mason John Derr; sister, Angelique E. (Derr) McGlinchey, and her husband Rusty; brother, Matthew Derr; niece, Kahayla Zaprazny; nephews, John Zaprazny Jr., John J. Klein, AAdin Derr, and Bentley J. Derr; many aunts, uncles, cousin and in-laws. Also survived PJ, mother-in-law Cindy Klein; and stepmother, Kim Derr.
Born Wednesday, Dec. 11, 1974 in Coaldale, he was the son of Marge D. Rice of Tamaqua, and Paul "Gus" Derr of North Carolina. A 1992 Tamaqua Area High School graduate, PJ had served honorably in the Army Reserve for six years. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters 600, amd he worked for Walsh Granite of Allentown. An active member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tamaqua, PJ enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hunting and fishing, and listening to music.
All these things, which he enjoyed, took a backseat upon becoming a father. He worked hard often taking on side jobs to provide for his family. Free time was spent with his children, and he became a "Soccer Dad". PJ was a family man.
Preceded in death by a son, Nicholas Paul Derr on April 4, 2008; and nephew, Joseph A. Zaprazny on Nov. 14, 2014.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 655 E. Broad St., Tamaqua.
A gathering of friends will occur on Friday, Aug. 14, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Private funeral services will take place on Saturday Aug. 15, 2015.

When I heard the tragic news of P.J.`s death; I did not know what to say except; so very sorry!!Just so damn sad and wrong!
