Pauline Dickerson Thompson Young

Pauline Dickerson Thompson Young of Keswick, Virginia, was called to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, April 8, 2011, in the comfort and care of Hospice House, Charlottesville, Virginia, surrounded by her beloved family and friends

Born on January 30, 1931, in Albemarle County, Virginia, to the late Harry and Mary Chapman Dickerson, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Basil Young; a brother, Horace Lorenzo Dickerson; and a daughter, Annetta Joan Thompson.

A dedicated and active member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, she served for many years as Church Treasurer and as a devoted member of the Trustee, Senior Choir, Missionary, Culinary and Hospitality Ministries.

Mrs. Young was a graduate of the Albemarle Training School; and, resided and worked in Washington, D.C. and the Charlottesville, Virginia, area. She loved her family, her church, and serving others.

She is survived by her beloved children, daughter, Shirley Thompson Holland and her husband, Carroll, of Alexandria, Virginia; son, Theodore Carroll Thompson and his wife, Frankie, of Manassas, Virginia; grandchildren, Alexis Thompson Hackett and her husband, Tony, of Woodbridge, Virginia, Aaron Thompson of Manassas, Virginia; her adored great-grandson, Jayden Thompson; sisters, Christine Byrd Payne and Jean Payne and her husband, Donnell, of Keswick, Virginia, Joyce Dickerson Price of Annandale, Virginia; brother--in-law, Roland Young and his wife, Patsy, of Alexandria, Virginia; sisters-in-law, Verna Anderson of Gainesville, Virginia, and Dolores Alexander and her husband, William, of Capital Heights, Maryland; Goddaughter, Lisa Chapman; a dear aunt, Lucille Chapman, 96, of Keswick, Virginia; devoted cousin and best friend, Bernice Mitchell of Keswick, Virginia; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 802 Zion Hill Road, Keswick, Virginia, with Pastor Lorenzo E. Dyer officiating and the Reverend Dr. R. A. Johnson as Eulogist. Interment will follow at Zion Hill Memorial Gardens.
