Not sure what to say?

Great sportsman, great teacher, good friend: Pete was one of a kind and impacted many lives. Great memories of the early-'80s Hyatt House teams with Tommy at short ,John Finn pitching and a bunch of little guys that Pete turned into very good baseball players. He'll be sorely missed. Bill Wendt

Pete was a good friend of mine in his early days at Stanford. He was a heck of a good basketball player and probably would have made varsity if he wasn’t having too much fun doing other things. We both married young, and when Pete parted with his wife, Valerie, a close friend of mine, I lost track of him. He was a really good guy. I have some very funny memories of my times with him. He sure will be missed.

A world class friend, roomie and Sprotsman!
We lived several years together, after Stanford Graduation, on Grant St. in SF and near Lake Merritt in Oakland.
We attended and watched hundreds of ballgames usually accompanied by a BBQ and plenty of mutual friends such as Judy the Owl, Moby Murphy, Brooks the "ANT" , "BOT Talbot, Brian Rohan, Pam Juvonen, JV , Little Joe Little and many more; playing golf, going to Kezar and tailgates at the Farm were a few of Pete's favorites! Our prayers and thoughts are with the family at this sad time.

PS. I am also a graduate of East High School in Denver. a few years younger than Peter.

Pete’s love of life and humor was infectious! Our family was blessed to have him. I’ll always remember years and years ago Pete driving me around in that awesome old VW big (I think was green) when I visited. I wasn’t sure how it made it up that hill to their home! Rest in Peace

My Cousin Pete, the lead off cousin from the Martha and Peter tree!
While we only had brief connections/visits from roughly 70 years ago, I remember vividly Merle and Jo talking alot about you and your early plaudits. Well Done!!! May You Rest In Peace!

My condolences. RIP Cousin!

You were blessed to have him and he loved his family. Pete was a class act!

Thinking of the wonderful times when Coach LaChapelle instilled his wisdom, experience, humor and love for baseball with me. Looking back on my career, I would not have made it as far as I did without Coach Pete encouraging me at a young age to be better. I will cherish the memories on the field and the many times that he played the banjo with my late Uncle Joe in our backyard. Much love to the entire LaChapelle family, especially the ones I knew best, Barbara, Erik and Jeff. Thinking about...
