Not sure what to say?

Peter and I met at training for Peace Corps at Notre Dame University in 1964. He went to Chile and I went to Venezuela. We had a lovely reunion in Boulder, Co in August 2016. He was a charming as ever, full of stories and humor. Our Chile/ Venezuela group gathered at his home in Staten Island before we departed for our service. I remember his family and his home (it was first time I had been to NYC). It was wonderful to see him in Boulder, and he shared his mother poetry with us. RIP,...

We are saddened to learn of the passing of Peter, but grateful for his service to our nation with the Peace Corps in Chile.

Our Condolences,
The National Peace Corps Association

Mr. Peter Murray in 1974

Mr. Peter Murray was my Spanish teacher in 1972/1973, and one of my favorite teachers ever.
He was very articulate with wonderful stories and always brought out the best in his class.

My sincere condolences to his family...

I fondly remember Mr. Peter Murray. We met in 2011 in Iquique, Chile. He was the teacher of one of my friend's father in the 1960s. During his stay in the city Peter was looking for to improve his spanish and hired me to teach him. I was 29 back then, he was 70, and he still wanted to learn more. What a great lesson I learn from him, never stop learning. We had many conversations about a variety of topics. I'm really sad right now. He was a great man, I will always remember him. Rest in peace...

I remembered Mr. Murray when he was a history teacher at Tottenville High School.

He was one of the best that all students would request.

Rest in peace Mr. Murray.

My condolences to Peter's family. I had the pleasure of meeting Peter years ago and would see him and chat on Forest Avenue when I moved to Randall Manor. Rest in peace, Peter.

Peter was a very special individual with stories that would keep you interested for hours. My father (Tab Buckley) I believe said it best. "the world has too few eccentrics as it is , it's a shame to lose one of the originals" .
Sending our love to the family. Sarah and Joe Finateri.
