If only there were a way to also capture in print his combination of hard-headedness, humor, practicality and "crass realism" as he put it, love of ideas and learning, and his warmth. Phil Renshaw was a lucky man in so many ways. While his life was marked with tremendous hardships, he also had many moments of happiness too.

Like many people who knew Phil, I certainly have some stories I could tell about who he was.
