Not sure what to say?

I will cherish my memories of Ms. Phyllis. I met her during my teen years at the Christian Activity Center in East St. Louis. She had such a gentle and welcoming spirit. Ms. Phyllis would assist me and other CAC children and teens with homework, Bible study. We formed a friendship when I started working for CAC back in 1996. Her smile and laughter was a sight to see. Her favorite day of the week was "hump day" and she made it known during the staff devotions. Here presence serving...

I wish I would have had the privilege of knowing Phyllis longer. She was such a special lady. I know all of the staff and her neighbors as well as family and friends will miss her dearly. I am grateful I was able to call her my friend, if even for a short time. Peace be with you, Mayor.

We had some great times together. since I will be on a mission trip, I will not be able to attend the memorial service. --And I could have added a few comments that might surprise a few of your family and friends. What an example you have been.

You were the first thing I looked for in the morning because you got my day started right and the last thing I looked for at night because you sent me home with a smile. You left us with a lot of good memories. You will never be forgotten. We will miss our Mayor!!

Phyllis will be missed by all who knew her. She was funny and always had a smile to cheer you up. I knew her when I was growing up in East St. Louis- the Christian Activity Center was known as the Goodwill Center - my prayers are with her family at this time and her friends.

Phyllis, I still cannot believe that you are gone. I miss you so much, but knowing that you are in Heaven with our Lord gives me so much peace. I cannot wait until we meet again my friend. My thoughts and prayers going out to your family and friends.

Phyllis, you will always be with me in my heart and memories .
