PHYLLIS CRIBARI Obituary

Phyllis Cribari, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away at home on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Phyllis was born in Los Angeles, CA, on September 12, 1924, to Leila Harris, and Jack White. She was married to the late Theodore S. Cribari, founder and president of Cribari Vineyards, Inc., for 49 years. Golf and bridge were her two big loves besides her family and friends. She served as captain of women's golf at Sunnyside Country Club and belonged to a bridge group there, along with many other bridge groups over the years. Phyllis served on the boards of Holiday Guild, Candlelight and Catholic Social Service. She was a member of St. Therese's Parish since 1946, and belonged to the St. Therese's Elementary School, and San Joaquin Memorial High School parents' clubs. She was also a member of the Monday Study Club. The family wishes to thank A-Plus In Home Care for taking such good care of Phyllis during her final illness. They would also like to thank St. Agnes Hospice for its invaluable assistance. She is survived by her sister, Gwendolyn Walsh; her three children, Suzanne Guyette Citara, Theodore S. Cribari, Jr., and John Fiore Cribari; their spouses, Bill Citara, Patricia Colter, and Cathy Cribari; her four grandchildren, Ted Cribari III, Stephen Cribari, Ben Cribari, and Michael Cribari; and her three great-grandchildren, Landon Enzo Cribari, Elle Cribari, and Declan Cribari. Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Monday, August 20, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Shrine of St. Therese Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be sent to St. Agnes Hospital Holy Cross Center for Women; or the donor's favorite charity. Ted, Suzanne and John,

I just happened to be checking out the Bee and came across the obituary and was so sad to hear of your mother's (Auntie Phyllis) passing. It's an end of an era. It was a wonderful time when we were all neighbors and our families would get together. My thoughts and prayers go with you.

Remembering Phyllis in my prayers will be easily done as she was the sweetest and caring lady to me throughout the years of friendship we shared at the Shrine of St. Therese. I am pretty sure she must be in the presence of Jesus. I will always see her eyes sparkling as she enjoyed conversations. She remembered things in an individuals life and wanted to know about them. I am sorry for her passing and for the loss you all share in the family. She will be missed.
