Piero MORSELLI

MORSELLI, Piero 71, passed away on June 4, 2013. Born in Florence, Italy, he was an art historian, published author, and later in life antiquarian. No matter where he went, he remained a true Florentine at heart. After earning his PhD. from the University of Pittsburgh, he was an Assistant Professor at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In Florence, Professor at Syracuse University, Bryn Mawr-University of Pennsylvania, and Fellow at Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies. He immigrated to Florida in 1967 where he attended Stetson and FSU. At FSU in 1974 he met his future wife. Cynthia Acree. His son's birth was one of the reasons the couple decided to go back to Florence in 1981. Survivors include wife, Cynthia; son, Lorenzo; brother-in-law, Wally Acree; mother-in-law, Peggy; and cousins in Italy. A memorial service will be held June 10, 2013 at 11 am at St. Clement Catholic Church, Plant City. Donations may be made to Tampa General Hospital or South Florida Baptist Hospital.
