Ralph Maurice Carter, Jr. departed this life on Thursday, October 28, 2021. He was born on May 22, 1955, in Quantico, VA, to Charlotte Mae Carter and the late Ralph M. Carter, Sr. Ralph was the oldest of six children. Ralph, Jr. was known to his family and friends as "Bootsy" and/or "Fats". He was a graduate of Spotsylvania High School. 


In his younger days Fats was known for his love of all types of music, and soon became the DJ for family functions and events. This passion led to him meeting what he felt was his forever love, Melissa. From this union came one son, Jawell Maurice. 


Ralph leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Melissa A. Carter; one son, Jawell Maurice Carter both of Spotsylvania, VA; a loving mother, Charlotte M. Carter of Stafford, VA; three sisters, Jewell Y. Frye of Ruther Glen, VA, Charlene A. Wyatt of Ruther Glen, VA, and Sandy S. Cole of Stafford, VA; nephews, Justin A. Frye (Kelly) of Gainesville, VA, DeLawrence G. Taylor of Washington DC and JaColby D. Hawkins of Atlanta, GA; a devoted nephew, Joshua G. Cole of Stafford, VA (caregiver); a devoted niece, JaNae D. Wyatt of Ruther Glen, VA (caregiver); a godson, Howard LaMar Jenkins; two dedicated “play” brothers, Howard L. Jenkins and Terrance Deane who were with him to the end; as well as a host of other family and friends. 


A viewing will be held at Union Belle Baptist Church on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. The interment will be held at Union Belle Baptist Church Cemetery.
