DUNN, Raymond "Champ" Jr., son of the late Raymond and Carrie Louise Dunn, began his journey with life on September 5, 1954. He was a loving, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to all who knew him. He had a real passion for fishing, which he enjoyed until his health began to fail. He also loved spending time with children even though he had none of his own. Champ fought a good fight, God saw that road was getting rough, the hills were getting hard to climb. On Saturday, August 6, 2011 around 6:20 P.M., God called Raymond Dunn Jr. home to eternal rest. He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother, Pearl and Wendell Dunn. Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted fianc‚', Mary Stokes; brothers, Willie (Brenda), Donnette (LaShawn), Jerry, Leander, Edward (Ann) and Stephen Dunn (Isabel); sisters, Thelma Odum, Angela Dunn, Mary Scott, Captolia Hunt (Raymond) and Carolyn Witherspoon; three children he raised as his own, Lynecia Jones, Mikia Jones and Michael Latta; two longtime good friends, Marma Duke Plummer and James "Snoopy" Arrington; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 13, 1 p.m. at Greater Shiloh Baptist Church, 615 Clay Street, Emporia, Va., with Rev. James Carey officiating and Bishop Dennis Dunn Eulogist.
