Not sure what to say?

Today, January 19, 2021, began for me as “cleanup day”. In the course of my saving-this and tossing-that, I came upon a box I had labeled, “from Utica”. Since I've now lived in southern California for over half my life, I decided it was time to see what I had stored in that box, once upon a time.

In going through that box of memorabilia, I almost immediately came upon a news item from the sports page of the Utica Daily Press (yes Upstaters, in addition to the OD, even Utica had...

Ray Kellmurray was a wonderful teammate and a tough competitor. For sure you wanted him on your team.
Our friendship began at Lourdes and survived the rivalry of UCA and Niagara. Our common bond was hockey. He loved the game and would go to great lengths to find some ice. If there's ice in Heaven, I'll bet he's rounding up a game now. I want to be on Ray's team. God bless Raymo.

It is with the deepest sadness that I say goodbye to my boyhood South-Utica Grammar School, Little League opponent, and close friend, Raymo. Also a frequent and cherished member of the FUNK (Friar-Underground Network) on the internet, we looked forward to his wit and Pithy contributions, especially his recounting of boyhood adventures, keeping alive the childhood memories, we all shared. My deepest sympathy to Polly and the Kellmurray Family. Bill McSweeney.

As a member of the class of 1963 Niagara University I wish to express my deep sorrow at the passing of such a warm loving and funny man. I had a wonderful opportunity to discuss the 50 years of life that had passed since our days at Niagara. An as time goes by I am more impressed with the quality of my classmates And here is one of the best I will keep him in my prayers

Polly & family,
I am so sorry to read of Ray's passing. Like Lou Kloster I have fond memories of growing up with Ray in Utica. I first met Ray in kindergarden at Our Lady of Lourdes then remained together until graduation at UCA. Ray was a classy and fun guy to be around. My best to you and your family.

My deepest condolences. Ray was a Niagara Classmate of mine and fellow Utican. He was a warm and generous guy who I enjoyed vsiting with at our 50th reunion a couple of years ago.Rest In Peace.

Very sorry to hear about your father Sean. Our thoughts are with you and your family.

Dear Katie,
May you and all of your loved ones experience God's Presence in the midst of your great loss. Your dear Dad, what a loving and generous man of faith, hope and love...

As Religious Sisters in the Diocese of Saginaw, we express our deep gratitude for all the Ray did to promote priestly and religious vocations. May he be rewarded greatly for his kind generosity.
