Stanton, Raymond B. Age 98, died peacefully on March 6, 2020 with his loving family at his side. Ray was born on February 23, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan to Frank and Kathleen (Heffernan) Stanton. In 1939, he moved to Milan, Michigan where he met and later married Lou (Berkley) Stanton on September 22, 1945. Their loving marriage of 61 years ended with Lou's death in 2006. Before serving in the Navy from 1944 -1946, Ray studied drafting at the Ford Trade School (Dearborn, MI). He later worked in the Ford Rouge and Willow Run plants drawing and creating panels to assist with the assembly of planes. He excelled at seeing things and making them with his hands. Ray eventually became a heating contractor and owner of Milan Sheet Metal Products. He installed and serviced furnaces in the Milan area for many years. In addition to being a loving and supportive husband, father, and grandfather, Ray was a dedicated Milan sports fan and coached Milan Youth Baseball. He was an avid follower of Big Ten collegiate sports events. Ray attended the Peoples Presbyterian Church (Milan) for many years and formed many lasting friendships there. Ray was artistic and creative and frequently collaborated on family art projects. His love of gardening and music (especially the One Voice Gospel Choir) brought him much happiness. He shared his quick sense of humor with all and was always ready for a "road trip." Ray is survived by his children Jill Morey of Rochester, MI, Mary Fishwick (Rick) of Howell, John Stanton (Renee) of Scottsdale, AZ, and Sarah Stanton of South Lyon. He is also survived by nine grandchildren,nine great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, honorary family member Donald Barnett, and many good friends. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Lou, his daughter Jennifer, his brothers Tom, Frank and Fred Stanton and sister Dorothy Caplis.The family sends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Silver Maples Assisted Living Community and Arbor Hospice for their remarkable and loving care. A memorial service celebrating Ray Stanton's life will be held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home in Milan on Friday, March 13th at 2:00pm with visitation beginning at 1:00pm. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley.
