Rebecca Del Galdo, 51, passed away from Metastatic Breast Cancer on the 8th of August, 2019. She was surrounded by her loved ones in her favorite place, St. Augustine, Florida. Against all odds, Rebecca survived past all oncologist and hospice expectations. Rebecca was not deterred by her cancer diagnosis and courageously continued to live her life on her terms. She worked until she started hospice and rarely allowed her illness to get in the way of her happiness, travel and hobbies. Born in Lodi, California, Rebecca was a devoted and loving wife, mother, daughter and grandmother who truly enjoyed being surround by her family, friends and pets. As the first college graduate in her family history from North Central College with a bachelor's degree in Business, she was a talented pianist as well as an expert level cook who published and distributed her own cookbook to loved ones. Rebecca founded the neighborhood book club that brought together women within the neighborhood and created everlasting bonds. She was a fan of the Wheaton Swim Club as well as the Chicago Blackhawks. She attended many playoff and Stanley Cup games. She enjoyed the game of hockey and the opportunity to be present during those exciting games. Rebecca was a spiritual person who found confidence in her faith in both good and challenging times. She always encouraged others to share her beliefs in a higher power. Rebecca was most proud of her accomplishments as a wife and mother. Rebecca is survived by her "best friend" and husband, Chris Del Galdo of Wheaton, Illinois; daughters, Taylor Kinal (Steve) of Wheaton and Lauren Sivak (Brian) of Woodstock; grandson, Tommy Sivak; mother, Deanna Spingola of Woodridge; Brother, Richard Williams of Williamsport Pennsylvania; daughter-in-law to Helen and Michael Del Galdo of St. Augustine Florida; sister-in-law to Michael Del Galdo of Burr Ridge ; as well as her "Uncle Tom of New Jersey" and many cousins, nieces and nephews from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Utah. She was employed by Integrated Project Management as a Document Communication Editor for almost 14 years. Rebecca loved her company and co-workers. She marveled at the unconditional love and support she received from both the company and her co-workers. Especially as Rebecca balanced work and endless cancer treatments for some years traveling back and forth from MD Anderson in Houston Texas. She often referred to her co-workers as family. Rebecca had a tremendous amount of love for her pets starting from a young age. Chris and Taylor are very confident that Rebecca is now spending time with her dogs Molly, Maggie and Sam and her cat Conrad. She is enjoying this time without the pain and the limitations she had the last 11 years of her life. Rebecca and Taylor were the first members of the Wheaton Swim Club. Rebecca appreciated how the Wheaton Swim Club family showed grace and supported Chris while allowing him to caregive. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Rebecca's memorial service on Saturday the 24th of August, 2019 at 10:00 am at the Grace Church of Dupage - located at 27W344 Galusha Ave, Warrenville, IL 60555. Although I never had the opportunity to meet Rebecca Del Galdo, I heard many loving stories about her from her devoted in-laws, Michael and Helen Del Galdo. She was a very caring and brave person, who will be an inspiration to us all.
