Rhea Zitzmann Obituary

ZITZMANN Mrs. Rhea Ursula Mocklin Zitzmann, a lifelong resident of the Greater New Orleans area, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2005 in Springfield, Tennessee. She was 90 years old. Mrs. Zitzmann was a native of New Orleans, LA and lived in Metairie, LA for the past six years at St. Anthony's Nursing Home where she was the Queen of the St. Anthony Nursing Home Mardi Gars Ball in 2001. She was an avid singer and dancer and continued to enjoy this past time while a resident of St. Anthony's. She was a parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church and attended Religious Services offered by the parish at the nursing home. She was also a ""Second Mother'' and great friend to her many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Zitzmann was evacuated for Hurricane Katrina to Monroe, LA and then to Rayville, LA. She then went to live in Lake Charles, LA only to be evacuated for Hurricane Rita to Nashville, Tennessee, where she died. She is survived and missed by two sisters-in-law, shirley Bartchy Mocklin and Jacqueline Drouet Mocklin, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews, as well as family friends. Mrs. Zitzmann was preceded in death by her husband, C. Andrew Zitzmann; her father, James Mocklin; her mother, Annie Stewart Mocklin; her brothers: James, Stewart, Gilbert and Ivan Mocklin; her sisters: Mae Mocklin, Melva Mocklin O'Brien and Lucie Mocklin Young; and nieces: Jamie Mocklin Scallan and Patricia O'Brien Fras. A Memorial Mass will be said Friday, December 30, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home Chapel, 4747 Veterans Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., Metairie, LA. Visitation will be on Friday morning from 8:00 a.m. until services begin. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I am the son of John Edward Zitzmann, Jr. My grandfather (John Edward Sr., was the son of Fredrick George Zitzmann and the brother of Clemens ANdrew ZItzmann Sr.
