Dick was truly my mentor while at Brooks Institute in 1980/81. I'm now near 70, retired from my New York City studio, and still think of him often. I was his teaching assistant for some time in 1980/81, and recall one day he came to me, and in his best stern voice said, "Zimmerman, you're shooting my daughter's wedding!" I flourished under his teaching and I truly became a better person because of him. You will be missed. Peace always, Dick. David J Zimmerman

I was friends with Dick and his family for 40 plus years. I was his teaching assistant at Brooks and had visited him and Helen in Santa Barbara many times since my graduation in 1982. It's very difficult to describe what Dick meant to me. He was like a father, but also my mentor. I had a very successful career because of him and am now retired.
