I met Richard in Monterey California, we were in High School, we hit it off well when we met, in the smoking section.We were good friends back then. He sent me a CD from when he first started in Morbid Angel. I just found out today he has left us and gone, to musical heaven. and by reading all these messages is extremely missed by so many people.Really a legend his own time. My older sister passed away in September of 2019 as well. She was only 58. God bless you Richard Brunelle, your old buddy misses you as so many others do too. !!

Richard, your passing was terrible news. Although we never met, you will always be special to me. For example, Blessed are the sick will forever be my favourite death metal album. I chatted to Richard after a gig at the Astoria in London on the Altars tour. First time Id really met one of my musical heros. He couldnt have been nicer. Top top guy, sad news. In our lifetime, every person would love to leave behind a legacy, to make their mark, and positively affect others lives. Richard Brunelle did that through his incredible work on the first two Morbid Angel albums - two of the greatest records ever made. He lives on through the music. I was lucky enough to see Morbid Angel with Richard Brunelle, which is one of the greatest live experiences Ive ever had. Any time we listen to his music, we experience his genius and relive the experience over and over again...eternally. Thank you to Richard for the music he leaves behind. RIP.

I met Richard Brunelle after he had left MORBID ANGEL, just as he had formed PATHS OF POSSESSION. Humble and good dude. Richard never pulled punches, his life and his guitar playing each gave credence to this fact. Incredible talent. Richard was a real credit to his craft. Richard epitomized all that was Metal. All that was Die Hard. With sincere gravitas put forth that made his contributions to Death Metal both sick and relentless.
I am fortunate to have been able to call him friend. Richard will be missed. Rest In Peace.

Richard was an amazing guitarist who wrote one of the most beautiful acoustic pieces I've ever heard. I loved "Desolate Ways" so much, I added it to my own acoustic sets and even played it for my senior guitar recital in college. Years later, I found him online and told him that and he seemed genuinely touched. My condolences to his friends and family.

The first time I saw Morbid Angel was on August 2nd, 1992 at the Whiskey A Go Go. Trey was sick and didn't play so the band played as a 3 piece. Richard was able to pull it off flawlessly. What an incredible feat and what an amazing musician. RIP Richard, thanks for contributing to many great childhood memories with your music.
