Most will never know what you did for them but we all continue to enjoy your freedom because of you. How ironic you passed on the anniversary of the Cuban Missile Crisis. You served our country well and we all owe you many thanks. You have many great friends that have reached out to the family. You are sadly missed and will always be remembered....

It was the strength and uniqueness of Dick's college recommendation that tipped the scales and got me admitted to Bates. He was my strongest non-family father influence. I lived in awe of him and loved him. He was family and his departure leaves an unfillable void.

I was greatly saddened to hear of Dick Jacob's passing.

Dick and I were both Ivy Leaguers, drafted into the Army around 1960. We were supposedly in a military intelligence unit but mostly painted barracks. (The Army always had to find a unique was to utilize talent). Dick subsequently played, as a C.I.A. agent, a very significant role in Moscow, during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
