I am one of Uncle Dickies many nieces. My heart sank when I received word of his passing. But I have fond memories of him. My favorite is when he would carve an apple, place it on the shelf and and within a few days they would shrivel into little old people. I LOVED THEM!! Memories such as these will provide comfort and be with me forever. I believe my Uncle Dickie would want us to celebrate his life, get through our sorrow and find peace. I am an old Whippany-ite now living in Florida. I knew the Japkos well (especially Richie!). As an altar boy, my brother and I would eat breakfast at Mary's before school. Dick and his Mom, Mary, made us feel special! Eternal rest, Mr. Japko.

Dear Family, Sincere condolences to each of you. Dick was by far;Mr.Whippany...on the short side, but his heart was bigger than he was. Back in Dick's younger days,we were one family. From Cedar Knolls,Monroe ,Malapardis,into Whippany. One of the scrappiest guys anywhere. He was a joy...I'm a better man for knowing him. Be always blessed.
