INSERRA - Richard (Richie) A. was born on October 4, 1951, Brooklyn, NY to Alfred and Helen Inserra and passed away on October 30, 2018 at his home in Queensbury, NY. Richie was raised in New Hyde Park, NY and lived in Queensbury, NY for the past 30 years. He graduated from the Academy of Aeronautics in 1977 and Schenectady County Community College in 1984 where he studied Culinary Arts. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he proudly enlisted at the young age of seventeen to serve his country as a Sargent in the US Air Force. He enjoyed listening to music, sharing his many jokes and special songs, helping others while volunteering at soup kitchens for many years but his favorite by far was preparing, cooking and sharing meals for his family and friends. Richie was married to the late Judy Inserra and is survived by his stepchildren Brian (Joanne) Planty, Kimberly DePeaux, Rebecca Planty and Kimmy (Nick) Borgia. He was Grandpaw Richie to Kristin, Timmothy, Daniel, Brandon, Mark, Katlin, Cory, Brianna and Ethan; great grandfather to Skylar; sisters Barbara Cortese and Paula Inserra, brother Peter Inserra, niece Christine Inserra, nephew Matthew Inserra and his beloved dog Bella. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to the Disabled Veterans of America, DAV, 245 West Houston St., Room 204, New York, NY 10014.
