I recently attended my fiftieth reunion from Glendale High School. I must have asked ten people if Hutch would be attending. He was such a good teacher, loved the students, and gave us advice when we needed it. I always wanted to see him one more time to tell him that he made a difference. I retired from teaching ten years ago.
My prayers and blessings go to your family during this painful time.

Couch Hutchison was a great teacher and coach. I learned to appreciate history and was one of his basketball managers. For those that don't know what that is, they are the guys that are the "gophers" for the team. Glad to have done that job. Joe M. Escamillo-Class of 1963

As a new teacher and coach, Mr. Hutchison - "Hutch" was my Athletic Director and later Principal. He truly loved Glendale High School - our students, faculty and staff. Believing in an open door policy, he was always available. A good man who will be missed, may he rest in peace. Our condolences to Byra and family.

Byra, family, C.T. and Billie...Hutch was the best coach and friend to all...so many HERRIN memories...so very sorry for your loss.

November 7, 2014

Mr. Hutchison was my principal for several years. He was a friend and mentor. He always supported his students. My oldest daughter would tell you to this day that the letter of recommendation that he wrote for her college scholarship applications was the finest she ever received. This was a testament to the fact that he made every effort to know his students. We have lost a good man. My condolences to his family.

Hutch left an indelible mark on his many students and athletes as a coach, educator and administrator. We are all better human beings because of his influence in our lives. He was my coach, colleague, but most of all my friend. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family.

Blessed be.

Mr. Hutchison was my Principal at Glendale High School. He was an amazing man and it seemed that he knew ALL of his students by name and no one was a stranger. He impacted my life in so many ways by his example and I am honored to have known him. Just as he was standing there with a handshake and hug at our graduation I know the Lord has welcomed him home. Blessed to know that we will meet again in our heavenly home.

Coach taught me that if I really put out the effort I could accomplish more than I ever thought possible. I have a lot of memories of Coach and appreciate his passion for teaching and competing in sports and in life. His lessons could sometimes be painful but he knew what he was doing and had my best interests in mind. Thanks, Coach.

I started my 27 year teaching career in 1962 teaching mornings at Glendale and afternoons at Cortez. Wherever I was in the GUHSD I met great teachers and administrators. Bob was among the very best. He will be missed.
