Guilford- Robert W. Martindale, 84, husband of Charlotte (Carignan) Martindale passed away on Friday, July 6, 2012 at Apple Healthcare in Guilford. He was born May 11, 1928 in New Haven a son of the late William and Margaret (Cote) Martindale. Robert proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He had worked as a milkman for Knudsen Brothers Dairy, Savoy Bar in Hamden and then as a lead person for Circuit Wise in North Haven from where he retired. Bob loved sports, he played golf in his younger days was a Boston Red Sox and Green Bay Packers fan. He enjoyed his family, whether it was family trips to the Catskills, Florida or where ever. He loved his grandchildren always making sure they never went without and there was always a big Christmas. Bob had a great sense of humor, always having a joke to share with those around him; he will be deeply missed. In addition to his wife Charlotte, he is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Eileen and Ed Griswold of Killingworth, CT and Sharon and Brian Jelinek of South Carolina, two sons, David Martindale and his wife Lorrie of Hamden and Robert Martindale of New Haven and seven grandchildren; Alisha, Diana and David Jr. and Emily Martindale and David, William and Robert Kolodziej. He also leaves four brothers and their wives, Ed and Maryann Martindale, George and Debbie Martindale, Charlie and Lucille Martindale, Richard Martindale, a sister Margaret Martindale as well as many nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by two brothers, Donald and William. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 10 a.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Burial will follow at Centerville Cemetery, Hamden. There will be no calling hours.
