We are friends of Melissa's uncle, Tom Baber, and back in 1984 someone had given Tom 4 tickets for Michael Jackson and his brothers' "Victory Tour" at the Gator Bowl. Melissa was visiting her paternal Grandparents at the time, and Tom thought Melissa would enjoy this show. Her grandparents didn't really want to go, so Tom invitied us to see this show with him and Melissa. It was quite an experience, and such fun to be with Melissa, a teenager at the time. She died much too young, and our hearts ache for her young sons and husband who will have to go on without her. We are so sorry. Dave and Greta Jones

Mrs. Harvey was a very special person in mine and my son Steven's life. She encouraged Steven to always do his best. At the end of school she said to me that she did not know what she was going to do without him being at Wood and guessed she would just have to walk up the hill to Pine Ridge to check on him. Steven just was looking at the picture of her and him she had given him and said what if I don't get to see her anymore? I told him he could call her and she would be glad to hear from him. She was like that, no doubt one of the most loving, caring and dedicated teachers the state of South Carolina has ever had the honor of teaching in our schools. She will most definitely be missed by this family. Our hearts, love and prayers go out to her family. If I can ever be of help to you as she was to Steven and myself, please call me (I mean it). I don't know how I will tell Steven. So sorry I just learned of her passing today. I would have been at the service. God bless your family in this time of grief and may be give you the comfort only he can give.

To Melissa's Family : Melissa touched so many people in her life time and will be missed by all. May Ecclesiastes 9:5,10 bring you great comfort. Melissa sleeps now; she has no pain anymore. She awaits Jesus to say to her as he did Lazarus "Come on out". May Jehovah's spirit be with you now and you all have my deepest sympathy.
