Rocci Caringello Obituary

Rocci Anthony Caringello
1924 - 2017
Resident of San Jose
Rocci Anthony Caringello, 93, died peacefully on October 4, 2017 in his San Jose home. Born August 28, 1924 in Adelfia, Italy, the son of Trifone and Caterina Caringello, Rocci immigrated to the United States when he was seven years old. He attended Campbell High School.
In 1943, Rocci was drafted to serve in World War II and was part of the Army Combat Engineers, trained as an electrician. He was assigned to the 66th Infantry Division and served from 1943 to 1946. Rocci was in three major landings on Saipan, Tinian, and Okinawa. After leaving the military, he worked as an Electrical Foreman at Moffett Federal Airfield for thirty-eight years.
Rocci knew his wife, Florence, since grade school. They began dating in 1946 and were married in 1948. They celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on April 18, 2017. Together they had three children, Rocci, James, and Catarina. They established their family electrical business where Rocci worked until he was 92 years old.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife: Florence; sister: Mary Montemagno; three children and their spouses: Rocci (Jean) Caringello, James (Christine) Caringello, Catarina Caringello; three grandchildren: Rocco, James, Emma; caregiver: Akosita Pakalani (Mary Lou); and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thanks to Rocci's devoted caregiver, Sita, and his doctors Peter Galatin and Terry Sullivan.
Visitation will be held at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara, California on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 5:00-9:00pm with a rosary service at 7:30pm. A funeral mass for Rocci will be held at St. Martin of Tours Parish, 200 O'Connor Drive, San Jose, California at 11:00am on Monday, October 16, 2017. After the funeral mass, those in attendance are invited to follow him to Santa Clara Cemetery for a gravesite tribute with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations to the charity of your choice.

Rocci you are one of the strongest men I have ever met! You and your lovely Wife Florence were always a joy to be around. Thanks for your kind help with the electrical installation at Nicks Home and the Spaghetti Squash you were so kind to bring me! Thanks for being a part of my life. God Bless You....

Rocci was so fortunate to have such a long and fulfilling life, blessed with a loving wife and family. I worked with Rocci at Moffett Field where he was well-liked. I truly enjoyed the photo gallery highlighting Rocci's life. My sincere condolences to his son Rocci, with whom I also worked, and to Florence and the rest of his loving family.

Uncle Rocci,

I will miss the twinkle in your eye when you are telling a joke or trying to be funny. Thank you for the conversations regarding your early life and home in Puglia. You and Aunt Florence created a wonderful legacy together.

You will be missed.
