Rocki Edward Muoth

Rocki Muoth died peacefully at his home on December 29, 2016, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born to Joseph and Mary Elizabeth Muoth on September 21, 1957, and was raised at their small orchard in Cowiche Canyon in Yakima Washington. He was educated at Naches School District, graduating in 1976.

Following graduation from high school Rocki obtained his Associates degree at Yakima Valley Community College. From there he joined the Marine Corps where he served three years active duty, followed by three years in the National Guard.

Upon completion of his military service Rocki became a US Postal Carrier. He lived and worked as a postman in Selah Washington, for 32 years, retiring in June 2014. Rocki also worked part-time at his own landscaping business over many of the past years. More recently he went to work for East Valley School District, beginning as a bus driver, later being placed on the grounds maintenance crew.

Rocki was multi-talented and very athletic. As a child he learned to play the piano, and during his teen years he played the drums. In the Marines he was decorated as an expert rifleman. He took up golf in his 20s and in no time became an exceptional golfer. He was also quite good at helping others with golf instructions. Rocki generally rose to the top during any type of competitive endeavor whether it be chess, horseshoes, darts, foosball, or other contests.
Rocki was a beloved husband, father, brother, and son. He married the love of his life, Shari Lynn Kramer, on July 17, 2000. He has three beautiful daughters, Jessica Muoth, Joanna Kohler, and Brianna Muoth, along with his stepson Christopher Simonds, all of whom he was very proud.

In addition to being a dedicated family man and hard worker, Rocki was also a very kind and gentle soul with a great sense of humor. He made countless friends through his various work, religious, and social networks, within which he was engaged over the years. If you met Rocki on the street as a complete stranger chances are that he would strike up a conversation with you as if you were a longtime friend.

Rocki was preceded in death by his mother Mary Elizabeth Muoth. He is survived by his wife, Shari Muoth, daughters Jessica Muoth, Joanna Kohler (Aaron), and Brianna Muoth, stepson Christopher Simonds, his father Joseph Muoth, sisters Diana Woods (Paul), and Penny Johnson (Dan), eight grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all of the friends and relatives who have provided assistance, support, and prayers over the past months, particularly Anne and Eric Stoothoff, Sherry and Bob St. Hilaire, and all the other members of the Simple Church, Dr. Ross Bethel, all of the staff and members at the Riverside Christian School, and management and coworkers at East Valley School District.

Services for Rocki will be held 10 AM Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Riverside Christian School; 721 Keys Rd., Yakima, WA 98901. A graveside service will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
