Not sure what to say?

I believe MR. Banta was my fifth grade teacher at Schallenberger Elementary School, San Jose, CA.

I do remember MR. Banta as an intelligent, well-educated, professional, straight-laced, caring, role model and gentleman.

I can still hear his manly voice and see his toothy grin.

WELL DONE, SIR.

Semper fidelis!

Sorry to hear of Roger's passing. He was a wonderful, thoughtful man and I enjoyed working with him at River Glen School in San Jose. He was a light to all the kids and I'm sure that he is walking with the Lord. Keep you all in prayer.

Roger was my first principal at Los Alamitos,SJUSD. He was the kindest man. I am so glad that our lives crossed ever so briefly. But he touched me and I never forgot him all these years. I send your family condolences and want them to know you touched many lives.
Thank you Roger. RIP

In 1961 "Mr. Banta" was my sixth grade teacher at Schallenberger School. Years later I would meet up with him again at Los Alamitos School. He was the principal and I was a substitute teacher. He insisted I call him "Roger". I couldn't do it. Out of respect, he would always "Mr. Banta" to me!!

I still have the class picture from 1961. As I was looking at it this morning, it brought back fond memories of not only my classmates but also my wonderful teacher. He will always...

The nicest principal I had the pleasure to work for. He was such a true gentleman. My condolence to his family.

As a lifelong resident of San Jose, California, I often read of former teachers and childhood friends passing. Today I read of "Mr. Banta's" passing. He was my first male teacher at Willow Glen Elementary. It was part of a team teaching project in the early 60's when I was in the 5th grade. He was the new teacher at the school. His gentle manner, welcoming smile and enthusiasm remained with me forever as what an educator should be. Through the years, I often thought of him and want his...

Janice, We are so sorry that Roger has
left, but isn't wonderful to know that he
is no longer suffering and to also know
that he is on the other side of the veil.
He was so wonderful. We are thankful for all the times we had together and will miss him. Can still hear him saying
I'm sweet and adorable. Love you,
Irene and Floyd

Dear Jan and Mary - We have only been fortunate enough to be your neighbors for a few short years but we have come to love your family and kind, gentle Roger. How impressed we have been as we have observed your considerate and tender care for him, Jan, as he has been in declining health. We know you will miss him dearly. Our love to you and your sweet family.
