As the Environment Court's Jurisdiction manager during Roger's time there, and having closely worked with him during that period, he played an active and important part in discharging the court's functions. His humility and keen sense of humour are remembered with fondness. My condolences to the family

Our deepest sympathy to Bev and the family. Such brilliant early memories of good times on the family farm at Ruapuna during the '60s. Roger guided me, a ChCh boy, through the 'whys and wherefores' of farm life with great hilarity and fun. I have always had a deep respect for Roger. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Bev. As a GM /Director at Environment Canterbury I interacted with Roger in a number of areas over the years and was always impressed with the way he conducted himself and his interaction with staff .His representation of his community was exceptional. As Regional Land Manager and then Planning Manager at the Canterbury Regional Council I had quite a lot to do with Roger during the development of various Council plans and strategies. He was always respectful, helpful and supportive of staff working on these documents, bringing his farming and other experiences to the Council table.
