Mundwiler & Larson Funeral Homes - Milbank Obituary

Services for Roland Kasuske, age 84, will be held on Monday, June 24, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home, Milbank. Visitation will be held at Mundwiler Funeral Home Sunday evening, June 23, from 5 - 7 p.m., and will resume one hour prior to the service on Monday. Reverend Keith Bicknase will officiate and Tim Mundwiler will provide music. Casket bearers will be Gregory Kasuske, Richard Buttke, Jr, Matt Kasuske, Leon Gehrking, Kelly Kasuske, and Chris Reil. Honorary bearers will be Roland's family and friends. Burial will be in the Milbank Cemetery. Roland Lavern Kasuske was the son of William August and Elsie Esther (Ferber) Kasuske. He was born on January 14, 1929 in Kilborn Township, rural Twin Brooks, South Dakota. Roland was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended school through the eighth grade. From 1951 – 1953 Roland served his country as a member of the U.S. Army, stationed in Japan. Upon his return, he resumed farming and in 1956 he became head of operations of the family farm, raising livestock and growing grains. Roland lived in his home until very recently. Roland greatly enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also found pleasure in fixing the machinery around his farm and working with wood. Roland died on June 19, 2013, at St. William's Care Center in Milbank, South Dakota, having reached the age of 84. Cherishing his memory are his brothers: Marlin Kasuske of Twin Brooks, SD and Harold Kasuske of Milbank, SD; his brother-in-law, Dean O'Farrell of Marvin, SD; his sister-in-law, Mary Kasuske of Corona, SD; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: Melvin Kasuske, Forrest Kasuske, and Dalton Kasuske; his sister, Esther O'Farrell; and his nephew, Michael Kasuske.
