RON KRAMER Obituary

KRAMER, Ron Age 79, of Natick, MA, formerly of Bedford and Lexington, MA, and Brooklyn, NY, passed away unexpectedly on March 5, 2017, while on vacation in a place he loved, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Ron was born in Brooklyn, NY to Lottie and George, both immigrants from Europe and had a brother Herb, all who have predeceased him. He spent a fun childhood in places like the Cotton Club, as his father was head Bartender there. He told many stories of the famous people he met growing up and being taken to the Saturday matinees by Cab Calloway. He joined the Navy and attended Brooklyn College. He met the first love of his life, Shirley, also from Brooklyn, on spring break in Florida. They married in 1961 and had two daughters, Brenda and Marcy. After Shirley's passing, he was blessed to meet the second love of his life, Joyce Creiger, with whom he shared his life and family for the last 13 years. They recently married on Valentine's Day. Ron was a proud member of the Freemasons and Shriners and wore his square and compass ring every day. Ron spent most of his professional life in electronic cash register sales, and was an early adopter of computers and technology. In fact, he was an original beta tester for Prodigy and started their first wine board. He continued as a blogger, writing about his passion for and knowledge of wine to the present day. His biggest passion and hobby was gardening. He often called it his "shul and where he felt close to G-d." He could spend hours in his garden and tending to his many potted plants. Over the years these many interests would inspire him to travel and visit many countries and allowed him great opportunity to make fun, interesting and diverse friends. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Creiger and his children Brenda Coutinho and her husband, John of Hopkinton, and Marcy Singer and her husband, Craig of Sharon; his grandchildren Jordan Singer, Mia Coutinho, Spencer Singer and Isabelle Coutinho. Also step-daughters Dina Creiger and partner Teresa, Deborah Cagan and husband Steven, and Andrea O'Leary, along with step-grandchildren Jacob Creiger-Combs, Abbi O'Leary, Josh Cagan, Jenni Cagan, and Matthew O'Leary. He will be remembered for his larger than life presence, his hearty laugh, his appetite for knowledge on a wide range of subjects, his love of gardening, wine and travel, his strong opinions and his love for his family. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 1:30 PM at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, CANTON, MA 02021. Interment to follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon, MA 02067. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005. Shiva will be held immediately following services at the home of Ron and Joyce from 4-7 PM. I'm so very sad to hear about Ron passing away.

I first encountered Ron thanks to our mutual love of fine wine and dining, and the many wine tastings that he organized in the Boston area over the years. He was one of the most unique people that I have ever met, with a wonderfully quirky sense of humor and a truly generous nature.

The last time we enjoyed wine together was to celebrate Joyce and his engagement at Troquet last November, and I will always remember how happy they were planning their around-the-world honeymoon.

My sincerest condolences to Joyce, his children and his innumerable friends.

You will be missed my friend.

I only knew Ron virtually. He was a frequent poster at wineberserkers.com and his humor and kind spirit was self-evident. Ron is deeply missed by his many online friends. My prayers are with the family during this difficult time.

May his memory be a blessing.
