I knew Ron at school (nickname 'Scouse') and I joined him as resident at the Townley Arms folk club in Longridge. We had a memorable week playing at McTavish's Kitchen in Oban. A great guy, great voice, fine musician, and a very sad loss. I never quite fathomed his sense of humour though.

Very sad loss for a stalwart of the 60,s folk music revival - in Lancashire. I joined Ron for seventeen years to play in the Horden Raikes - enjoyed some heady nights -- Ron filled the room with his huge personality a bountifull knowledge of music and great harmonies. My heartfelt condolences to Barbara and Jenny. Ron left us too soon but his legacy for heritage and posterity will live on.
