Today we say goodbye to a loving father and husband. Ronnie Stevens left us at 67 years of age. He was a star athlete in both track and football at Plaquemine High. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and a gifted trumpet player through high school and college. He married the love of his life on her 22nd birthday, had two children, and spent the rest of his years working in his family's business. Most of us remember him as a generous, kind, loving man. He raised his family being a part owner of Blanchard's Building Materials in Plaquemine and State Lumber and Hardware in Baton Rouge. He was a lifelong resident of Plaquemine and longtime member of Alhambra, Krewe of Cypress, The Island Country Club, and a founding member of Krewe of Comogo. Anyone that knew him knew that he lived life to the fullest. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jan Hotard Stevens, as well as two loving children Meg Stevens O'Reilly, her daughter Vivian, Ronnie Stevens Jr. and his wife Emily, two brothers Eugene Paul Stevens Jr. and wife Patty , Kevin James Stevens and wife Denise. Services will be held at St John the Evangelist Church in Plaquemine on Tuesday, February 3rd from 12:00pm to 2:00pm followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 2:00pm. Interment will be at Grace Memorial Park. Pallbearers are his two brothers Gene Stevens Jr. and Kevin Stevens sand his closest friends, John Delahaye, Steve Panepinto, Johnny Higdon, King Hebert, Peter Gautier, and Colin Gauthreax.
