Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home - Man Obituary

Roy Fields Of Mallory, WV Roy Fields, 72, of Mallory, departed this life on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Logan Regional Medical Center after an apparent heart attack. He was born February 27, 1945, at Switzer, a son of the late Lewis and Mae Block Fields. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Frank, Tom, Henry, George, and Tex Fields; and one sister, Sarah Eubanks. Roy was a coal miner for 22 years who retired from Island Creek Coal Company. He was a proud member of the UMWA District 17 and was of the Freewill Baptist faith. An avid outdoorsman, Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. A talented musician, he played guitar, bass, and sang with several gospel bluegrass bands. Devoted to his family, Roy was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Cheryl Berdge Fields; three children, Richard (Laura) Fields of Nitro, Frances Grimmett and her boyfriend, Freddie Blankenship, of Kopperston, and George Brian Fields of Man; three sisters, Beulah Porter of Griffithsville, Haley Fields of Alum Creek, and Evelyn (Willard) Kelly of Cow Creek; eight grandchildren, Adriana Fields, Chandra Fields, Megan Hooper, Aaron (Sara) Fields, Amanda Grimmett, Brian Fields, Tiffany Sexton, and Kip Sexton; five great-grandchildren, Jazlyn Gaiter, Maddox and Lennox Knox, Maci Fields, and Maddison Fields; and a young man who was like a grandson, David "Trey" Tomblin along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Jackie Grimmett officiating. Burial will follow in Fields Cemetery at Chauncey. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home also. Pall bearers will be family and friends. So sorry to hear of Uncle Roy passing...he was a very good Uncle to me and I am thankful for our friendship while growing up until now...may he rest in peace and no more pain is what is waiting....God bless his family and always remember.......the gate is always open in the kingdom of God.
