ELM GROVE, LA – Funeral services for Roy Dale Smith, 72, of Elm Grove, LA will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in Rockett Funeral Home Chapel, Ringgold, LA. Burial will follow in Rocky Mount Cemetery, Ringgold, LA. Officiating will be Bro. George Rogers. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 24, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Rockett Funeral Home, Ringgold, LA.
Roy was born July 31, 1944 in Ringgold, LA and passed away on January 21, 2017 in Ringgold, LA. He worked in the oil field for over twenty-five years. Roy loved his family more than anything, as well as hunting and especially fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Artie Hay Smith and brothers, William Smith and Wilburn "Buddy" Smith.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 54 years, Ruth M. Smith of Elm Grove, LA; sons, Jimmy Dale Smith and wife, Carrol of Longview, TX, Jessie Cleveland Smith and wife, Terrie of Elm Grove, LA, Michael Shane Smith and friend, Charlotte Benson of Elm Grove, LA and Charles Randall Smith and friend, Jamie Chelette of Princeton, LA; sister, Dorothy Inez Pierce of Haughton, LA, 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.

I am so sorry for your loss. Roy fought such a good fight for so long. My thoughts and prayers are with you?

It was a blessing to be able to take care of Mr Roy! He always had a smile when I greeted him even when he didn't feel good. Continued prayers for Mrs Ruth and the entire family.

Mrs.Ruth, I am so very sorry for your loss. And am praying for you and your family.That God will help you through this time.

An admired and loved friend. He will be missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

I will miss Roy, his wisdom and humility. He was a great help to Herb Wilson and me also.

I don't know if anyone will ever realize how much he meant to me....He was beacon of joy and love for me my whole life..Prayers for all my Family esp For my sweet Aunt Ruth and all of my cousins...We'll miss you..Love you tons and bunches and tons.

I enjoyed knowing Roy and I know he will be missed by many. But very grateful the he is no longer in pain. My condolences to the family
