Graveside services for Roy C. Truitt, 87, of Tyler, will be held on Saturday, January 30, at 12:00 PM at Oaklawn Cemetery in Athens with Pastor Jasen Thomas officiating, under the direction Jackson's Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home in Tyler.
Roy went to Heaven a shoutin on Sunday, January 24, 2021.
He was born on February 02, 1933 in Athens to Lula and Roy C. Truitt.
He was preceded in death by his parent. Roy is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte; children, Bill Truitt, Laurie Joyner, Pam Greg, Debi Elbert, Tommy Parham, Lora Binks and Jeri Carter; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Parham, David Parham, Bill Truitt, Walter Truitt, Jeri Carter and Bobby Carter.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry McWhorter, Guy Moore, Charlie Smith, Jerry Taylor, Jimmy Mitchell and Robert Tucker (deceased).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church Under The Bridge in Tyler or The Hospice of East Texas Foundation.
Roy was an exceptional husband and father. He was witty and caring and he loved cars. He and Susan can play with cars forever. Roy will be missed so very much by all who loved him and especially so by his wife Charlotte.

I learned today (2-7-'21) about Roy's death. He and Robert had been life time friends; Robert's mother started the FBC nursery with the two of them. They were fast friends all through their school years, but kept contact occasionally until Robert passed. Roy occasionally would check with me to see how I was doing, as recently as within a month of his own death. Charlotte, I will pray for your comfort and peace with his passing.
