Ruth Bastiansen was pretty quiet...until I got to know her. I used to clean for her up until about a year ago. I would see her in the common halls of where she lived, and she would never hesitate to greet me in her "Ruth" way. I would walk past the puzzle room at certain times and see her working the puzzle there on the table. Ruth was the best mother-in-law a woman could ask for. Ruth was funny, sweet, loving and very kind to me. We had a great connection and she always told me that her first grandchild, my daughter Layla Marie (Marie after Ruth's middle name) was the best birthday gift she ever got.
I so appreciated her sense of humor when we used to stay up late, chat, drink tea or wine, as we watched Saturday Night Live, Soap, and Fernwood Tonight. We shared so much in our conversations and all through...
