Ruth Via Spicer Ruth Via Spicer, age 73, of Locust Grove passed away November 19, 2010 due to renal failure at her home surrounded by her family.

Ruth was born February 8, 1937 in Bells Valley, Virginia to the late John Via and Margaret Powell Via.

Ruth was a CNA at the Culpeper Baptist Retirement Community for 40 years before retiring in 1996.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Kimberlie Lawrence and her husband, Bill and the light and star in her eyes, her grandson Jason and his wife, Christal Gibson; granddaughter-in-law Tara and her husband Bryan Craft, the stars of her life, great-grandchildren, Jaime, MadyKaye, Bobby, Michael, Kaitlyn and McKenna; her brother, John Via and her aunts, Susie Via-Powell, Mary Powell Martin, Lillie Powell-Cobb, Bertie Powell-Lowe and her uncles Clain Allen-Powell, Jr. and Leroy Powell.

She is also survived by her loving caretakers Carmen Cox and Jennifer Mauck.

In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Spicer.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Fairview Cemetery with Jerry Moore, Jr., her cousin, officiating.

Pallbearers named are to include; Danny Carter, Oakley Pullen, Bill Lawrence, Bryan Craft, Christal Gibson and her daughter, Kimberlie Lawrence.

Honorary Pallbearers include Tara Craft and "RuRu's" great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Hospice of the Rapidan, P.O. Box 1715, Culpeper, Virginia 22701 and/or the National Kidney Foundation, 5001 West Broad St. Suite 217, Richmond, Virginia 23230.
