Not sure what to say?

Dear Family,
Mrs. Wood ended up being one of my most important, memorable and helpful teachers, and her typing class has immeasurably improved my lot, especially as the computing age progressed.

Many times, not knowing she was still alive at the time, I have said, "If Mrs. Wood, my typing teacher, were still alive I would send her flowers to thank her for hanging in with me.
Thank you Mrs. Ruth Wood. I know we will see you again. You were/are a saint.

Don and family - We were very saddened to learn of Ruth's passing when Mom (Edna) and I stopped by to visit her on Thursday evening. It was a true pleasure for mom and I to meet her and spend many lunches/dinners at her table at Lewis. She was a remarkable lady.

Our mother Nelle Thornley is smiling in heaven as she greets Ruth at their dining table. Ruth and Mother had an amazing connection in their times together at Concordia Village. We were all touched by Ruth and her family.

I helped pay for my college education with skills I learned from Mrs. Wood at U School. She was unfailingly gracious and positive. She managed a class of boisterous clowns with aplomb, and I always shall be grateful for her influence. Barb and Don, I'm so sorry for your loss. Jean Sykes Kasselman

Don and Barbara, I had the pleasure of meeting your mom while visiting my mom at Concordia. What a dear, sweet lady! Please know that I am thinking of you and your family during this time of loss and that I will remember Ruth always.

Condolences to all of Ruth's family. Words could never fully express my heartfelt sympathy. Ruth was a lovely person and getting to know her at Lewis Memorial Christian Village was extra special: sharing stories, a new friend for my mom; laughter; music; puppets. Wishing your family: a song in your heart; a rainbow after the rain; peace; hope; cherished memories. Ruth will always be in my heart. When words fail; music speaks.

My condolences to the Wood family. I have heard stories of Ruth through Don and Chevyoune. She was a wonderful person and had a the best family to share the long life she had. She touched the lives of many around her and will be greatly missed.

Don, Ruth's life connected to my family in several ways, including the references to Carbondale, U-School and the SIU Department of Education, since my parents were also former faculty at U-School and the Department of Education overseeing student teacher training.

Don, Ruth's life story, especially the references to Carbondale, U-School and SIU, were special connections to me and my parents who were educators, U-School faculty, and SIU faculty in the Department of Education involved in the supervision of student teachers. I hope you are well.
