Sally Bowers Shepherd of Shelby, North Carolina headed off to Heaven today to join her
beloved husband (Bobby Joe) and her youngest son (Richard Shane) on Sunday, January 19,
2025.
We are all terribly saddened and yet rejoiceful at her longing to be with them and her precious
Jesus, to whom she would journal to for 3 hours every morning. All is well except for the empty
place in each of our hearts for her ever-present goodness and constant love. She rejoices
today as the Angels sing!
Sally grew up in Toledo, Ohio with her 5 siblings. She is survived by her sister Barbara Harvey
of Northwood, Ohio. Barbara will miss her sister and their nightly “Words With Friends” game to
conclude their day.
Sally loved to play cards with anyone in the family who was up to it. She could play for hours on
end and she was good at it! She would make sure you knew the rules! She knew them well.
She is clothed with strength and dignity.
Sally was the mother of 3 girls and 6 boys. She had 15 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren,
and 2 great great grandchildren. She was a wonderful, caring friend and a dedicated member
of Landmark Baptist Church. She loved us and we loved her beyond words.
The tapestry of her life is woven with love, sacrifice, and constant dedication to family and her
community. For 30 years her life’s work and passion has been to ease the pain for family
members of a recently deceased loved one at 13 different churches in and around Shelby.
Sally tailored a poem of hope and comfort for the vivid journey to eternal life for their loved one.
She took great care and hand delivered them to the churches for the families. She will sing the
goodness of God!
A celebration of Sally’s life will be in full bloom immediately following the 10:30 a.m. sermon of
Pastor Allen Davis at Landmark Baptist Church on Sunday, February 2, 2025. Sally was
cremated and her family will hold a private scattering of her ashes at a later date. In lieu of
flowers the family request that you consider making a donation in honor of Sally to her beloved
church.
