Samantha Brooke Adams, 34

Born August 4, 1983 – Deceased May, 30 2018

Native of Maysville, Kentucky; darling daughter of James Eston Adams and Betsy Brooke Adams, sole sister of Eston Dillon Adams, fun-loving niece and cousin, awesome aunt, and fabulous friend to so many.

2001 graduate of Mason County High School, 2005 graduate of University of Louisville, 2014 graduate of the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City, New York.

An energetic child to say the least, Samantha ("Sammycakes") was quite a gifted gymnast from the get-go. She also turned her talents to playing piano and singing with a very strong voice; Sam could rock it. Naturally entertaining, she was also a great beauty. Her hair was strawberry blonde, eyes blue, complexion fair, and her smile alone could light a room.

Sam proved to be a strong-willed, tempestuous adolescent with dramatic flair. These honest qualities did not fail to impress and attract many, nor to ruffle some's feathers. At heart, she was always so tender. A kind of crazy driver, but thank goodness she never harmed a soul. Sammy just really loved freedom.

Leaving home in Maysville and moving to Louisville for college, this is where she first met her beloved Daubber, who was to be her constant and cheerful companion for 16 years: the rest of her days, save seven. She was so good to that dog and he was by her side through thick and thin. I doubt anyone could ever love an animal more.

After earning her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from U of L, with characteristic boldness she moved up to The Big Apple and began her successful career as a dental sales representative for Patterson Dental, eventually for Benco. Sam's travels were numerous and far-reaching; to share any adventure at all with her was an experience not be missed or forgotten.

Her next career move was to pursue her passion for cooking so she enrolled in the Institute of Culinary Education. She fulfilled her internship at the James Beard award-winning Gramercy Tavern in Manhattan. Then she moved out west to Las Vegas and became a Chef de Partie at Chef Thomas Keller's restaurant Bouchon. To the delight of her family and friends around Kentucky, she did find her way home again. Back in Louisville she cooked at several fine restaurants and assisted Chef Edward Lee with a cookbook.

Fashion forward, humorous, compassionate, hope-giver, a shooting star. Samantha Brooke Adams was a captivating rarity - leaving us in a flash – taking our breath away. In your prayers please remember her. May God always hold her spirit in His hand.

Services will be held at Church of the Nativity Episcopal Church in Maysville, Kentucky on Thursday, June 21 from 4-6. Donations in her name are welcome at the Mason County Animal Shelter.
