Sandra “Sandy” Neal Felix (Harris)

November 3, 1945 – March 2, 2026

Sandra “Sandy” Neal Felix, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, graced this world with her gentle spirit and boundless love. Born in East Saint Louis, Illinois, to Edwin Harris and Marie Hawkins, Sandy was the second of their beloved children. Raised in a household brimming with warmth and togetherness, she embraced values of hard work and community from an early age.

Sandy’s childhood home rang with laughter and sibling camaraderie alongside brothers Charles, Edwin Jr., Marshall, Laverne, and Roland, and sisters Ethel and Marilyn Joe. Memories of helping in community gardens and scooping ice cream at a local soda shop remain tender chapters of her youth, where seeds of her lifelong kindness and quiet grace took root. A cousin fondly recalls Sandy’s dignified presence—meek yet dignified, soft-spoken, and always the epitome of a lady whose laughter was gentle and spirit serene.

An active and compassionate soul, Sandy graduated from East Saint Louis High School in 1964, having enriched her life through athletics, service, and leadership. She answered a heartfelt calling to nurture others by earning her Licensed Practical Nurse certification at Emily Griffith Technical College.

Love blossomed in Denver, Colorado, where Sandy met and married Jonas Felix on August 4, 1970. Together they wove a rich tapestry of shared adventures—from jazz festivals and mountain escapes to backyard barbecues and cheering on the Denver Broncos. Their home was a sanctuary of laughter and warmth, animated by Sandy’s extraordinary gift in the kitchen. Her passion for cooking was a language of love, each meal a masterpiece that delighted and united her family.

To her grandchildren—Jason Alexander, Alyssa Nichole, Alessandro Gilberto Diego, Tyler Matthew, and Theodore Gerald Patrick—she was simply “Grammie,” a beacon of tenderness and comfort. Her sweet voice, softly singing “You Are My Sunshine,” remains an enduring hymn of affection.

Professionally, Sandy’s heart found purpose as a Pediatric Licensed Practical Nurse at Kaiser Permanente, where her compassion and dedication touched countless young lives. Always ready to lend a hand, she enriched her workplace with warmth, flavor, and fellowship. Beyond her career, her spirit of service shone brightly as she volunteered in her community—working polls, nurturing classrooms as a room mother, and leading Scout troops that achieved great honors.

Sandy’s legacy is woven with acts of love: a gentle touch, a joyful giggle, perfectly seasoned meals, and lullabies sung in the quiet of family moments. She leaves behind her loving husband Jonas; children Denise, Nitchka, and Jonas Patrick; grandchildren Jason, Alyssa, Alessandro, Tyler, and Theodore; siblings Marshall Harris, Ethel White, and Marilyn Joe Perkins; her faithful canine companion Tristan; and a vast circle of family, friends, and colleagues forever touched by her kindness.
