Not sure what to say?

Served with Shelley at NASJRB Willow Grove. She was a great officer and an inspiration to many. Gone too soon.

I am so sorry to learn (so belatedly) of Shelley's passing. I flew with Shelley in VQ-4 and she was always a positive, funny, confident force of nature! I am sorry that I lost touch with Shelley after the Navy, and my condolences to her family for your loss.

So sad to read of Shelley's passing. We played basketball together at Rice University. I remember Shelley fondly as a great teammate and a never-ending source of entertainment on team road trips! RIP

I'm so sorry to hear of her passing. Shelley was a good friend at Rice U through thick and thin and hilarious times. We had an epic road trip together in her ancient station wagon (9 mpg) from Houston to Pennington and then Boston in the summer of '77 -- a great memory. Not surprised to read about her successes and distinguished career in the beautiful obituary here. She will be missed and fondly remembered by all of her Rice friends.

Oh, I am so sad to hear this. Shelley was a long time friend even though we lost close track of each other in these later years. We met at our NROTC Midshipman summer training between sophomore and junior years. I´d never met such a smart, athletic, and sweet funny girl who was friends to all. Next we were in the same class of Student Naval Aviators, 2 of the 15 women selected for Navy Flight School that year. Next we ended up in the same squadron flying EC-130´s. She was always a great...

I met her in 1981. She played basketball at NAS Corpus Christi TX with the energy and passion that she applied to all her endeavors. A fine person and fellow naval officer, she had a stellar career in both the Navy reserve and the airlines.

Capt Pennington was a great officer and mentor. I will pass the word to her Shipmates from the Grove

My sister Michele & Shelly we´re good friends back in high school at Hoval..they were both avid athletes and fitness nuts..we lost Michele to cancer 12 years ago..I know they are together now running marathons and shooting hoops.

I remember Shelly from when we were both flight instructors in the T-28 at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, TX. She did a great job and was fun to be around. Sorry to hear of hear of her passing. Fair winds and following seas my friend.
