Mrs. Shirley A. Morton, daughter of the late Willie E. and Lucy A. Brown was born August 5, 1945 in Mecklenburg County, VA and departed this life March 4, 2018 at the Memorial Hospital, Jacksonville, Florida.


At an early age, she was baptized and joined Lombardy Grove Baptist Church. She attended the Mecklenburg County Public Schools and graduated in the class of 1964. After graduating from high school, she moved to Richmond, VA. She was married to the late Robert Lee Morton and to this union one daughter was born. Shirley worked at NAPA Corporation for 32 years where she retired.


After her retirement, she dedicated her time caring for her grandchildren and later for her great-grandchildren. She later moved to Florida with her daughter until her death.


She leaves to cherish her memories; a son, Keith Brown, Richmond, VA and a daughter, Sherritta Morton, Jacksonville, Florida; four grandchildren, Raisha, Mitasia, Shawn, Ja’leel, and two great-grandchildren, Ra’zaria, Jadarius William of Florida; two sisters, Gracie Farrar and Lucy Wilson; two brothers, Robert (Theresa) Brown and George Brown all of South Hill; sisters-in-law, Isabelle Brown of South Hill, Pearl Kennedy, Florence Kelly, Carrie Hicks, Rose Etta Morton all of Richmond, VA; one aunt, Martha Jones, South Hill; one uncle, Edward Caldwell, Tacoma , WA, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

To sheritta and keith sorry to hear of the passing of your mom she was a dear and true friend to me until she moved but I still continued to talk and ask about her.she was more like a sister instead of a friend who always was there for me I'm gonna miss her dearly but I just want to let you two know I'm only a phone call away if you need me I love you both and you two will always be in my thoughts and prayers always keep in mind she's at a better place now and there's no more suffering she...
